Odds on Bet.co.za can be displayed in three ways: Fractional, Decimal or South African.
You will probably be most familiar with odds as fractions (e.g. 3/1). However, you can choose to display them as decimals (e.g. 4.00), or South African (3.00) if you wish.
Below is a table highlighting the difference between the various odds types:
Fractional | Decimal | South African | What does it mean? |
3/1 | 4.00 | 3.00 | Place R1.00 to return R4.00 (R3.00 winnings and R1.00 stake) |
4/1 | 5.00 | 4.00 | Place R1.00 to return R5.00 (R4.00 winnings and R1.00 stake) |
11/2 | 6.50 | 5.50 | Place R1.00 to return R5.50 (R4.00 winnings and R1.00 stake) |
Fractional Odds
Whenever you see two numbers separated by a slash, i.e. 10/1, this is a fractional betting odd.
Fractional odds allow you to calculate how much money you will win on your bet in comparison to your stake. The number on the left (e.g. 10) is how much you will win. The number on the right is how much you need to stake.
Decimal Odds
On Bet.co.za, there are two types of Decimal Odds - traditional Decimal Odds and South African Odds. Both are displayed in numeric form, i.e. 9.00, but Decimal Odds differs in that in includes stake.
Decimal odds allow you to calculate how much money you will be returned should your bet win. Simply multiply your stake by the decimal number shown and that is how much you will receive back - including your stake.
South African Odds
The main difference between Decimal Odds and South African Odds, is that South African odds don't include the stake in their calculation.
E.g. Kaizer Chiefs are 1.70 to win their match against Amazulu. In this scenario, a R10.00 bet on Kaizer Chiefs would return R27.00.
Total Return = (Stake x Odds) + Stake
Total Return = (R10 x 1.70) + R10.00
N.B. The potential return amount will always display on your Bet Slip.
